Collagen was naturally consumed long ago by our ancestors, whose diet had a higher animal collagen content (skin, cartilage and bones). Collagen is compatible with a paleo- friendly diet.
Traditionally used in Japan, where it is known to be particularly biocompatible or bioactive, as well as ensuring good bioavailability
Collagen has a nourishing action "from within": it can therefore be used in addition to a topical solution (e.g. cosmetic cream). The effect of the latter will inevitably be limited when applied to the skin because the skin barrier prevents “foreign” active ingredients from being absorbed. However, when we drink or ingest collagen, most of it is absorbed by the intestinal walls and put to good use by the skin.
Brown spots linked to ageing or sun exposure are often called age spots, sun spots or solar lentigos. These brown spots generally appear on sun-exposed skin, such as the face, hands, shoulders and arms. They are associated with two main factors:
Skin ageing: With age, the skin undergoes various changes, including a reduction in cell regeneration, a loss of collagen and elastin, and alterations in the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin colour. Pigment cells called melanocytes may become more active or produce melanin irregularly. These changes can lead to an accumulation of uneven pigmentation, manifesting itself in the form of brown spots.
Sun exposure: The sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays are a major factor contributing to the formation of brown spots. Prolonged exposure to UV rays can stimulate the production of melanin in certain areas of the skin, leading to excessive pigmentation. Sun spots are often the result of repeated exposure to the sun without adequate protection.
It is important to note that although these spots are generally not medically dangerous, they can be aesthetically undesirable. However, medical supervision is necessary if they develop.
Mechanism of action
Melanin-REGUL Complex is a synergistic formula of premium quality botanicals. It naturally helps to correct hyperpigmentation and regulate melanin production by combining the power of grape-seed polyphenols, grape viniferin, liquorice extract and vitamin C, for an overall brightening action on the complexion.
Its mechanism of action is to block the transformation of tyrosine into melanin by inhibiting a specific enzyme, tyrosinase.
The patented Melanin-REGUL Complex is made up of 4 powerful ingredients which act in synergy to regulate melanin production: taken together, their action results in 85% inhibition of the tyrosinase enzyme responsible for melanin production.
2.1. VINIFERIN
Viniferin is a polyphenol found in grapes and wine. It is a member of the flavonoid family of plant compounds with antioxidant properties. Viniferin has been studied for its potential benefits for the skin, particularly for its antioxidant properties and its action on skin pigmentation.
It is largely responsible for inhibiting tyrosinase, a key enzyme involved in melanin production. By reducing tyrosinase activity, viniferin can help to reduce hyperpigmentation and even out skin tone.
We have selected viniferin from grape marc extract from France.
2.2. GRAPE-SEED POLYPHENOLS
Grape-seed polyphenols are natural compounds found in grape seeds and, in particular, in grape-seed extracts. They are part of the polyphenol family of antioxidants found in many plant-based foods. Grape-seed polyphenols have been studied for their various health benefits, including for the skin.
Certain grape-seed polyphenols, in particular proanthocyanidins, have been shown to have photoprotective properties. They can help protect the skin from damage caused by the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays.
Grape-seed polyphenols can help inhibit melanin production, helping to reduce hyperpigmentation and even out skin tone.
We have selected polyphenols from grape seeds from France and the Champagne region.
2.3. LIQUORICE EXTRACT
Liquorice extract is derived from the Glycyrrhiza glabra plant, which is native to the Mediterranean region and Asia. This extract has long been used in traditional medicine for its medicinal properties. As far as the skin is concerned, liquorice extract is valued for a number of potential benefits.
Liquorice extract contains compounds such as glycyrrhizin and liquiritin, which have anti-inflammatory properties. This can help soothe irritated, red or inflamed skin.
The antioxidant compounds in liquorice extract can help neutralise free radicals, helping to prevent oxidative damage to the skin. This damage is often linked to premature skin ageing.
Liquorice extract can help reduce hyperpigmentation by inhibiting melanin production. This can be useful in reducing the appearance of brown spots, acne scars and other pigmentation irregularities.
Some skincare products containing liquorice extract may have moisturising properties, helping to keep the skin supple.
Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, liquorice extract can help reduce the appearance of redness and skin irritation.
Finally, studies suggest that the glycyrrhizin present in liquorice extract may have a protective effect against damage caused by the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays.
It also plays an important role in the metabolism and normal function of the body through various biochemical reactions and collagen synthesis in particular!
Vitamin C (or ascorbic acid) is a major vitamin found in fruits and vegetables. The human body cannot synthesise vitamin C and the only way we can get an adequate supply is through food. It is sensitive to cooking and to air. It is therefore important to eat fresh fruit and vegetables quickly to make the most of their vitamin C content.
It mainly helps to reduce fatigue, combat oxidation and cell ageing, and strengthen the immune system.
This is why we have selected acerola powder, a fruit particularly rich in natural vitamin C.
Its major functions on the SKIN are as follows:
